Coronavirus testing is currently being carried out in 17 laboratories across the country under PCR method.
11 more labs in Dhaka and outside of the capital would be included in this list within the next 7 to 10 days. Therefore, the total number of labs for testing corona-suspects would be 28 within the next week.
Dr Nasima Sultana, the Additional Director General of the health directorate stated these figures in the regular health bulletin of the organization on Tuesday.
She said, 'We already have 17 labs for testing Corona suspects through PCR method. We have decided to add 11 more institutions to start doing the same within the next 7 to 10 days. Among them, 5 are going to be in Dhaka and 6 outside the capital.'
Sir Salimullah Medical College, Mugda Medical College, kurmitola General Hospital, Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Shahid Sohrawardi Medical college are the institutions inside Dhaka which would be up for COVID-19 tests.
Outside Dhaka, Chittagong Medical College, Cumilla Medical College, Kushtia Medical College, Faridpur Medical College, Bagura Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and M Abdur Rahim Medical College (Dinajpur) would be ready to test patients having coronavirus symptoms, according to the briefing.
