Teknaf municipality councillor sued for amassing illegal wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a case against a councillor of Teknaf municipality in Cox’s Bazar on charges of amassing illegal wealth.

ACC’s Cox’s Bazar Integrated Office Deputy Assistant Director Md Nasrullah Hossain lodged the case against Ward 8 Councillor Md Moniruzzaman, confirmed ACC Assistant Director Md Riaz Uddin of the integrated office.

He said Moniruzzaman has accumulated illegal wealth worth Tk 4.31 crore abusing power as a public representative.

Earlier, during the submission of wealth statement, the councillor mentioned that he had assets worth Tk 58 lakh in his possession, the ACC official added.
