Report in case over inmates' escape from court on March 1

A Dhaka court on Thursday scheduled  March 1 for submission of the probe report in a case lodged over the escape of two militants from police custody at a court in Dhaka who has been sentenced to death.

The case report was supposed to be turned in on Thursday, but the concerned investigating officer failed to comply. Allowing a time plea to the prosecution, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanto Islam Mollik fixed a new date.

Death-row convicts Abu Siddiq Sohel and Moinul Hasan Shamim, members of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al Islam, were whisked away by their associates by assaulting the police and spraying some chemicals on their eyes at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court arena on November 20, 2022.

Court inspector Md Julhash later filed the case with Kotwali Police Station.
