Hundreds of home-goers poured into railway stations in Dhaka on Sunday to get their desired tickets as Bangladesh Railway started selling advance tickets for the second consecutive day ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

People were seen waiting in long queues for hours in sweltering heat at Kamalapur railway station where the tickets for journeys on April 28 are being sold.

Besides, advanced tickets are also being sold in four other spots — Tejgaon, Airport, Dhaka Cantonment railway stations and Phulbaria.

The ticket sale began at 8:00am.

The intercity train tickets for North Bengal and Khulna are being sold at Kamalapur station.

The Chattogram-Noakhali bound train tickets are available at Airport station while Mymensingh-Jamalpur-Dewanganj-bound train tickets at Tejgaon station, Mohonganj-bound train tickets at Dhaka Cantonment station and Sylhet-Kishoreganj-bound train tickets at Phulbaria.

At every ticket selling centre, one counter was designated for women.

Like previous years, half of the train tickets will be sold at ticket counters while the rest online.

Bangladesh Railway started selling tickets in advance on Saturday for homebound people. The tickets for travelling on April 27 were sold on the first day.

The advance tickets of April 29, 30 and May 1 will be available on April 25, 26 and 27 respectively.

The railway authorities will start the sale of return tickets on May 1.

People have to collect tickets after showing their NID cards or birth registration certificate.

Each passenger will be able to buy a maximum of four tickets.
