Popular actress Jaya Ahsan will once again collaborate with director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury in his upcoming Bengali film "Dear Maa."

The film will explore the complex relationship between a mother and her daughter.

Aniruddha, who is known for his critically acclaimed Hindi films such as "Pink" and "Kadak Singh," is returning to Bengali cinema after a decade-long hiatus. His last Bengali film was "Buno Haansh," which was released in 2014.

"Dear Maa" will be set in Kolkata and will feature a cast of talented Bengali actors, including Chandan Roy Sanyal, Dhritiman Chatterjee, and Saswata Chatterjee, according to Anandabazar.

The film's story revolves around a mother who raises her daughter single-handedly. As the daughter grows up, she begins to question her mother's parenting and the relationship between the two becomes strained.

Aniruddha says that the film is a story about "the love that goes beyond blood relations." He believes that "Dear Maa" will be a relatable film for audiences of all ages.

Jaya, who is known for her powerful performances in both Bengali and Bangladeshi films, is excited to be working with Aniruddha again.

She says that the film's script is "unlike anything I've ever read before" and that she is looking forward to bringing the character to life.

Shooting for "Dear Maa" is scheduled to begin in the third week of May. The film is expected to be released in 2025.
