Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan said Hajj flights are scheduled to begin operations from May 9.

He made the comment while responding to journalists’ queries at an event held at the Advocate Tarek Memorial Auditorium in Mymensingh on Saturday. This programme was a purohit [a chaplain or priest] and shebait [person who serves the deity] summit.

The minister added, “The Hajj package cost this year dropped by Tk 1,02,000. Everything is moving forward smoothly, and there are currently no issues. The first Hajj flight will start from May 9. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the flights on May 8.”

Addressing the summit as chief guest, Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan said, “In our society, the religious leaders of their respective religions have a special importance among people.

“If we can make these leaders financially independent, and if we can make them more skilled and efficient in fulfilling their professional responsibilities, then the country and its people will be able to reap more benefits.”
