Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has called on journalists to sharpen their pens to introduce a new trend of people-centric politics by bringing about a positive change in the existing political landscape, focusing on forgiveness and reform instead of hatred, vengeance, and revenge.

He made the call while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with journalists organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North at Dhaka’s Bijoy Sarani on Tuesday.

The session was chaired by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City North Branch Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin.

Shafiqur Rahman stated, “Bangladesh needs a magnetic character to transform society and establish freedom of expression, justice, and the rule of law that will guide the nation toward its desired destination.”

“We must forget the past and move forward together. To achieve this, we all need to work collectively to create a roadmap for the nation. We must put an end to the politics of revenge and violence,” he added.

Addressing journalists, Shafiqur said, “There are two eyes of society: journalists and politicians, but neither can express themselves, leading to injustice. Their pens and voices have been frozen for the last couple of years. The pens of journalists must be free to engage in logical criticism.”

Mohammad Selim Uddin urged everyone to work together for the betterment of the country, saying, “For the last fifteen years, Jamaat-e-Islami has been unable to engage with the people of Bangladesh due to suppression. I urge you all to unite in building a better Bangladesh.”
