Adviser of the interim government on the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Friday stressed the need for good practice of the people as far as health issues are concerned to build sound health for future generations.

She urged everybody to avoid carrying food in polythene bags and shunning the use of plastic cups for hot drinks.

Rezwana was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Health Olympiad and Online Quiz Competition 2024 at Abdul Karim Sahityabisharad Auditorium of the Bangla Academy.

"People should develop the habit of wearing masks considering the prevailing environmental pollution. Additionally, healthy diet and adequate sleep are also essential,” she observed.

“If the habits can be changed, there will be no tension about diseases," she added, saying, “It’s not possible to build a healthy nation keeping its citizens unhealthy.”

The event was aimed at raising awareness about health issues among school students.

"Tuberculosis is no longer a major problem, but awareness on this issue is the key,” she said.

Competitions, like Health Olympiad, can play a crucial role in increasing health awareness among students, she said.
