Choton announces resignation

Bangladesh Women’s Football Team head coach Golam Rabbani Choton has announced his resignation from the role.

The coach, under whose tutelage Bangladesh Women’s Team won their first SAFF Championship last year, said he will leave his role after this month ends. The coach is yet to hand his resignation to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

“I will not coach the national team in any tournament anymore. I will provide the BFF with an official resignation soon. You can say that I am here for this month. I will not be in charge of the women’s team from next month,” he told the media.

Under Choton’s guidance, Bangladesh have not just been successful at the senior level but also at the age level. Under him, Bangladesh were the runners-up in the SAFF U18 Championship in 2022 and were the Champions of the 2021 SAFF U19 Championship.

Choton’s resignation came just after young Bangladesh Women’s Team forward Sirat Jahan Shopna announced her retirement on Facebook.
