BSEC to probe irregularities of Vanguard

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has formed an inquiry committee to investigate into the alleged fund embezzlement by Vanguard Shares & Securities Limited.

In an office order on Thursday, the capital market regulator said that the move was made upon receiving complaints of unauthorised trade and fund embezzlement against the brokerage company.

Md Kawsar Ali, additional director of the BSEC, will lead the three-member committee, while Md Monirul Islam, senior system engineer of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited, and Ehsan Habib, senior officer of Chittagong Stock Exchange, have been made members of the committee.

The BSEC asked the probe body to submit its findings within the newt 30 working days.

The capital market regulator also said that regulatory action will be taken if any of the allegations is substantiated.

As per the order, the commission received three complaints against the brokerage house.
