Shawkat Jahan joins DSE as CRO

Md Shawkat Jahan Khan joined the Dhaka Stock Exchange as its chief regulatory officer (CRO) on Wednesday.

His appointment was approved by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission on July 19, said a press release.

Prior to joining the DSE, Khan was the chief financial officer and also general manager of state-owned Rupali Bank.

In his 22-year career in the banking sector, Khan assumed different key positions at a number of banks, including Sonali Bank and Mercantile Bank.

He holds a Masters in Accounting from the National University and an ICMA degree from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh.

Initially, the DSE had chosen M Asheq Rahman for the post. When Rahman placed some pre-requisites, the DSE denied to comply with those and cancelled his appointment.

Later, the prime bourse authority appointed Shawkat Jahan to the post.
