Baraka's two companies declare dividends for FY22

Two publicly traded power generation companies — Baraka Power Ltd and Baraka Patenga Power Limited — have declared a dividend for their shareholders for the year ending June 30.

The Baraka Group’s companies’ dividend payout was recommended at the meetings of the companies’ board of directors.

The board of directors of Baraka Power decided to recommend a 10 per cent cash dividend to its shareholders for the year ending June 2022.

The listed firm’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 2.13 for FY22 against Tk 3.17 (restated) for the previous fiscal year.

The recommended dividend is expected to get the investors’ approval at the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) slated to be held on December 15.

Baraka Group’s other company, Baraka Patenga Power Limited (BPPL), has also recommended a 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ending June 30, 2022.

The company has also reported an EPS of Tk 1.25 for the last fiscal year (FY22) against Tk 3.60 (restated) for the year ending June 30, 2021.

The company reported a net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 28.92 for the year that ended on June 30 this year.

The recommended dividend is also expected to get the investors’ approval at the company’s AGM scheduled to be held on December 15.

The company said in the note, consolidated EPS decreased at the end of the period due to a significant increase in exchange loss in foreign currency transactions.

Consolidated NOCFPS (net operating cash flow per share) increased in FY22 compared to the previous fiscal year due to an increase in the collection from a customer of its subsidiaries, it said.

Its share price closed at Tk 29.30 per share on the trading floor of the Dhaka bourse on Thursday.
