DSE's profit jumps 10.71%, declares 6% dividend for FY22

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s prime bourse, posted a 10.71 per cent surge in profit to Tk 124 crore in the financial year 2021-22 due to an increase in turnover.

The board of directors of the stock exchange on Thursday declared a 6 per cent cash dividend for its shareholders for FY22.

The bourse’s board of directors on Thursday approved the financial results and the dividend for the shareholders. As per its financial statements, the stock exchange posted a net profit of Tk 124 crore in FY22 versus Tk 112 crore in the previous fiscal.

The listed firm’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.69 for FY22 against Tk 0.63 for the previous fiscal year.

The DSE reported a net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 10.79 for the year that ended on June 30 of this year.

The recommended dividend is expected to get the investors’ approval at the DSE’s annual general meeting (AGM) slated to be held on December 26.

At the board meeting, the DSE formed an election commission to elect its board members.

The DSE's board members said that the profits of the bourse soared in the year due to a surge in turnover income from the stock market.

Considering the DSE’s 1,80,37,76,500 shares, its earnings per share advanced to Tk 0.63 in FY21 from Tk 0.15 in FY20.

The bourse made Tk 27.39 crore in FY20, which was the lowest after being demutualised in November 2013. Its profits of Tk 97.50 crore in the financial year of 2018-19 after it had netted Tk 104 crore in FY18.

The DSE’s profit was Tk 123.91 crore in profits in FY17, Tk 119.82 crore in FY16, Tk 134 crore in FY15, and Tk 135 crore in FY14.
