Gold drops below Tk1 lakh per bhori

Gold price in Bangladesh dropped below Tk 1 lakh per bhori (11.664g) as the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) on Thursday decided to cut the rate of this precious metal by Tk 1,750 a bhori.

BAJUS decreased the prices as the rate of pure gold went down in the local market, read a press release, adding that the revised prices will be effective from Friday.

Until further notice, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 99,027, which was Tk 1,00,777 per bhori previously.

According to the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has decreased by Tk 1,633 to Tk 94,595, down from 96,228 per bhori.

The price of 18-carat gold has gone down by Tk 1,399 to Tk 81,065, which was Tk 82,464 per bhori previously. And traditional gold price has been decreased by Tk 1,165 to Tk 67,535, down from Tk 68,700 per bhori.

The price of silver remains unchanged for now. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 1,715 per bhori.

On July 21, gold price in the country hit a record high exceeding Tk 1 lakh per bhori with 22-carat gold costing Tk 1,00,777.
