Gold exceeds Tk1 lakh a bhori again

Gold price in Bangladesh hit a record high exceeding Tk 1 lakh per bhori (11.664g) again as the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) on Thursday decided to hike the prices of this precious metal by Tk 2,216 a bhori.

BAJUS increased the prices as the rate of pure gold went up in the local market, read a press release, adding that the revised prices will be effective from Friday.

Until further notice, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 1,01,243, which was Tk 99,027 per bhori previously.

According to the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,041 to Tk 96,636, up from Tk 94,595 per bhori.

The price of 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk 1,749 to Tk 82,814, which was Tk 81,065 per bhori previously. And traditional gold price has been increased by Tk 1,516 to Tk 69,051, up from Tk 67,535 per bhori.

The price of silver remains unchanged for now. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 1,715 per bhori.

On July 21, gold price in the country exceeded Tk 1 lakh per bhori with 22-carat gold costing Tk 1,00,777.
