In memory of the late actors Mita Chowdhury and Shahidur Rahman, a play titled "Suchona" will be staged at the Kochi Kachar Milonayoton in Segunbagicha tomorrow at 7pm.

The play, written by the renowned Ekushey Padak-winning actor Abul Hayat, is directed by esteemed actor and director Rahmat Ali.

Mita Chowdhury, who once regularly performed in "Suchona," will be honoured through this staging. The character Rasheda, a popular writer in the play, will now be portrayed by Wahida Mollik Jolly. Chitralekha Guho will play the famous singer Shobita, Dr Naznin Chumki will take on the role of the wealthy housewife Shelly, and Tahmina Sultana Mou will perform as a prominent social worker. All four characters are elderly women.

Produced by Stage One, the playwright, director, and actors extend a special invitation to the audience to watch the play for a nominal fee.

Wahida Mollik Jolly expressed, "This play is dedicated to our beloved artists, the late Mita Chowdhury and her husband Shahidur Rahman." Chitralekha Guha shared, "We remember Mita Apa with deep respect at every moment. We have especially missed her in the past few days. We invite the audience to enjoy the play."

Chumki commented, "I am playing the character of the wealthy housewife Shelly, a role previously performed by Mita Apa. It is quite challenging for me to bring this character to life as Mita Apa did. Nevertheless, I am trying my best to honour her through my portrayal."

Tahmina Sultana Mou added, "Suchona is one of the most significant plays of my stage career. The three other artists performing with me are incredibly experienced. Participating in rehearsals with them has helped me to accurately present my character. I hope our performance in Suchona will be well-received by the audience."
